The UNG string orchestra located on the Dahlonega campus—will stream a holiday program at 7:30 pm on December 17. The concert will be presented as a YouTube Premiere on the UNG Music Department YouTube channel. In addition to holiday favorites, the program will feature several UNG students. It will begin with Arcangelo Corelli’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 12, with performance majors Chelsea Shankles and Katelynn Black on the two solo violin parts, music minor Sarah Gurley on the cello, and performance major Tamara Stroup on the harpsichord. Next, Sinfonietta will be joined by euphonium player and music education major Lauren Brack in Joseph DeLuca’s Beautiful Colorado. As runner-up in the 2019 Concerto/Aria Competition, Brack earned this opportunity to be featured in DeLuca’s virtuosic masterpiece. Then the ensemble will be joined by harpist Skylar Cibirka for Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on Greensleeves. Finally, Sinfonietta will present Leroy Anderson’s Festival of Carols—a ten-minute medley of all your classic Christmas favorites. Lyrics will be provided so that you can sing along at home!
