Come sing and dance to that old-time rock and roll as the Back in Time band returns for one of Gainesville’s favorite outdoor summer concerts. Featuring a 9-piece rock-n-roll band with a 4-piece horn section, Back in Time features classic rock-n-roll, soul and East Coast beach music that is sure to rock your socks off. The band brings back musical classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s with hits like My Girl by The Temptations, It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones, Desperado by The Eagles, and of course the band’s namesake Back in Time, by Huey Lewis and the News. Get ready to shag the night away with your favorite partner when Back in Time performs some of the most memorable beach music classics.

Back in Time was formed in the summer of 2009, becoming one of the best “horn” bands around featuring the hits of beach, soul and rock ’n roll. The core of the band came from veterans of the 1960’s and 1970’s rock ‘n roll scene in Athens and northeast Georgia. The Axemen, the Athens Rogues and Cloud Nine helped form the nucleus of Back in Time. With the addition of a talented, young lead singer, back then, Hall County’s Singing Deputy, along with two trumpets, a saxophone and trombone, Back in Time was born.

Using songs from the original artists of the 60’s, 70’s and beyond, the band put together arrangements that were true to the original recordings. Arrangements by Tom Wallace (arranger for the UGA Redcoat Band) accentuate the individual talents of the band. Band members include Jonathan Jackson – Lead vocalist; Bob Cowles – Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxophones and Vocals; Tom Wallace – Trumpet, Arranger and Vocals; Michael Crook – Trumpet and Vocals; Rory Crook – Trombone and Vocals; Allen Beach – Guitar and Vocals; John Harriman – Bass Guitar and Vocals; Mike Mauldin – Drums; Glen Brown – Vocals and Guitar; Jim Black – Auxiliary Percussion; Mercer Crook – Keyboards and Vocals.

Get on your feet and dance to the classic rock sounds of Riverstreet! Founded in 1969, in Gainesville, GA, this Rock band includes Mike Terrell (drums), Dwayne Young (bass guitar), Dean Young (rhythm guitar), David Murray (lead guitar), Larry Vandiver (lead guitar) and Michael Bennett (keyboards).

“We were only a cover band, but we became…popular,” said drummer Mike Terrell, who joined the band in 1974. “We stayed on the road a good bit touring. We played about 10 states and as far away as Arkansas.” The band cultivated and maintained quite a following, not only in its home state of Georgia but all over the Southeast by extensively working the college and club circuits.

Over the years, Riverstreet has shared the stage with many notable acts including Greg Allman, Rare Earth, Steppenwolf, Guess Who, Headeast, The Tams and Badfinger. The band also performed with comedian/actor Martin Mull in Cocoa Beach, Florida, one of Terrell’s personal favorites.

Riverstreet has been performing a few, very select shows since getting back together in 2012, attracting audiences of two to four thousand a show. “To see a response like this is truly humbling,” Terrell said. The band is excited to perform again this summer at The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center.

A “Must See” event! The Highwaymen Live pays musical tribute to three Country Music legends, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. Audiences will watch in amazement as each song, one hit after another is sung just as if they were seeing the original band perform. This country music show is full of upbeat hits like Ring of Fire and On the Road Again.

Michael Moore, as Willie Nelson; August Manley as Waylon Jennings; and Cliff Wright as Johnny Cash wow audiences with their authentic portrayal of these Country Music legends both visually and musically.

“We think we have seen as good a show as Nashville has to offer. I don’t know where you “dug” Waylon up, but I’m sure it was him in the flesh that we saw at the show. We could not believe it. Willie and Johnny Cash were also great! These guys are truly a remarkable act and should definitely be on the big stage. Just great!”
